A CIDADE COGUMELO: CAMPINA GRANDE DAS FEIRAS ÀS FESTAS
Abstract
Este artigo analisa a formação de uma nova situação histórica, descrita em termos geográficos, da urbanização e do imaginário político na cidade de Campina Grande, no Estado da Paraíba, Nordeste brasileiro. Procura identificar os processos de crescimento urbano e dinâmica econômica no contexto de uma cidade média, centro distribuidor. Através de entrevistas e levantamentos de artigos e reportagens jornalísticas, relaciona a modificação das atividades econômicas no espaço urbano com os mecanismos de estruturação do espetáculo na modernidade.

ABSTRACT
The paper analyses the formation of a new historic situation, described in urban and geographical terms as well as in terms of political imaginary in Campinas Gande City (Paraiba State, Northeast of Brazil). It identify urban processes of growth and economic dynamics in the context of a middle city. Working with interviews and bibliographic researches (newspapers and articles), it puts in evidence the link between economic activity in the urban space and structutural mechanisms of modernity.
