DO MUNDO AO MODELO EM ESCALA REDUZIDA: a maquete ambiental como ferramenta de transformação do cidadão
Abstract
O trabalho apresenta resultados da integração entre a representação cartográfica e trabalho de campo durante um curso realizado em São Vicente, litoral de São Paulo, em janeiro de 2004. O trabalho foi parte do projeto “Univerão- Unesp” que desenvolvem atividades acadêmicas e culturais integrando professores, pesquisadores, alunos e a comunidade litorânea nas férias de verão. O curso “Oficina Especial de Elaboração de Maquete como subsídio ao Exercício da Cidadania” permitiu o desenvolvimento de técnicas de representação cartográfica, associadas ao trabalho de campo. No curso foram elaboradas duas maquetes do município de São Vicente: a primeira apresentou como tema o uso e ocupação do solo urbano; a segunda destacou os impactos ambientais. A elaboração das maquetes teve como suporte aulas teóricas, práticas, exploração de mapas temáticos e fotografias aéreas, e trabalhos de campo, permitindo a observação da realidade e sua representação. O trabalho contribuiu para reflexões entre os participantes sobre planejamento urbano, exclusão social, cidadania, degradação do meio físico, expansão urbana, uso e ocupação desordenada do solo e desenvolvimento territorial. Aspectos técnicos e científicos da cartografia e dos estudos do meio ambiente permitiram a conscientização dos integrantes através da visualização do cenário urbano e suas modificações.

ABSTRACT
This paper presents the results obtained in the integration of the cartographic product with field works during a course in São Vicente-SP in January, 2004. The study was inserted in the project “Univerão – Unesp” that developed activity with teachers, scientists, students and local beach population, on the summer vacation. The course “Special workshop of the models for Support the citizenship” allowed a connection between cartographic material and field work. The students made two models about the city: the first presented the use and occupation of the urban territory; the second one emphasized the environmental impacts. The models was prepared through the theoretical classes, practical classes, thematic maps exploring, images, photographs and field work, as well as, they permitted the observation of the reality. The study contributed for conscientiousness the urban planning, citizenship, environmental impacts, urban expansion and territory development and its changes.
