ABSTRACT The growth of the tourist activity has provoked the refunctionalization of many areas and implanted new content-forms to the tourist destinations. The understanding of the rationality revealed in these new spaces, whose production is induced by tourist activity, it constitutes a challenge for the scholars worried in understanding the redefinition of the emergent sociospatial dynamics in the context of the flexible accumulation. Which the rationality revealed in the urban space produced to play the tourist function in peripheral areas? That questioning take us to an initial hypothesis in which we consider that in many depressed areas, the necessity of faster and effective insertion in the global market through the tourist activity have taken the producing agents of the tourist spaces to privilege the visitor, the tourist, in detriment of the resident. Thus, when analyzing a particular case such as the tourist Natal space, the aim of this article is to show as the rationality that permeate the object distribution and the actions of the main producing agents of this space implant a new logic to the produced space for tourist ends. The effected methodological procedures are: bibliographical research on the production of the tourist space in the area object of the survey, data collecting in public agencies and empirical analysis.
