PANORAMA DA DESERTIFICAÇÃO EM CHICUALACUALA, MOÇAMBIQUE (ÁFRICA AUSTRAL) (panorama of desertification in the Chicualacuala, Mozambique -Southern Africa)
Abstract
O artigo apresenta resultados da revisão bibliográfica sobre o conceito de desertificação e a proposta de conceito de susceptibilidade geoambiental à desertificação e sua classificação. O estudo da susceptibilidade geoambiental à desertificação segue uma abordagem holística (Estudos integrados ou geoambientais), com aplicação do diagnóstico geoambiental.O artigo integra-se no projeto de doutorado, cujo objetivo é identificar Áreas Susceptíveis à Desertificação (ASD’s) no Sudoeste de Moçambique (Chicualacuala), os desencadeadores e fatores que estabelecem, mantêm ou exacerbam a degradação da terra, e formular propostas de possíveis soluções aos problemas que a degradação da terra coloca à sociedade.Palavras-chave:África, Moçambique, Distrito de Chicualacuala, Desertificação.
ABSTRACT
The paper presents results of a literature review on the concept of desertification and the proposed concept of geo-environmental susceptibility to desertification and its classification. The study on susceptibility to desertification geo-environmental follows a holistic (integrated or geo-environmental studies), with application of geo-environmental diagnosis. The article is part of the PhD project, whose goal is to identify Areas Susceptible to Desertification (ASD) in the Southwestern Mozambique (Chicualacuala), the triggers and factors that establish, maintain or exacerbate land degradation, and formulate proposals for possible solutions to problems that land degradation poses to society.

RESUMEN
El documento presenta los resultados de una revisión de la literatura sobre el concepto de la desertificación y el propuesto de concepto de la susceptibilidad geoambiental a la desertificación y su clasificación. El estudio de la susceptibilidad a la desertificación geoambiental sigue un enfoque holístico (estudios geoambientales o integrados), con aplicación de diagnóstico geoambiental. El artículo forma parte del proyecto de tesis doctoral, cuyo objetivo es identificar las áreas susceptibles a la desertificación (ASD) en el suroeste de Mozambique (Chicualacuala), los factores desencadenantes y factores que establecen, mantienen y exacerban la degradación del tierra y formular propuestas de posibles soluciones a los problemas que plantea la degradación de la tierra a la sociedad.
