INEQUALITY AND POVERTY IN THE AGRARIAN SPACE OF CEARÁ STATE
Abstract
This article intends to highlight the changes occured at the Cearense agriculture during the last two decades, identifying their main characteristics, weaknesses and trends. It develops a discussion about the recently promoted modernization at the rural lands which has been socially excludent, spatially concentrated and environmentally unsustainable, mainly for the extremely high social costs and the dependence on the large support of the State. Due to the Governmental investments supports to the private sector, some social, territorial and political structures have been kept untouchables, even if they are incompatibles with the principles of the economic growth socio-spattially balanced, increasing historical disparities and creating new others inequalities.
