A SOCIAL USEFUL GEOMORPHOLOGY: NATURAL HAZARDS IN EVIDENCY
Abstract
O presente ensaio esboça reflexão sobre o papel do geógrafo físico, especificamente o geomorfólogo, na prevenção e na gestão dos riscos naturais. Nele serão abordados os riscos ligados à dinâmica externa inundações, cheias, erosão do litoral, movimentos de terra, avalanches etc. Embora acompanhados de conseqüências geomorfológicas agravantes (Tricart, 1982; Thouret, 1990), os riscos de origem tectônica (erupções vulcânicas, abalos sísmicos) ou puramente climáticos (geadas) não serão examinados. O artigo em evidencia se divide em três partes. Após uma discussão sobre as noções de risco, de acidentes inesperados e de catástrofes naturais, precisamos suas causas, tanto naturais quanto sociais, examinando, em seguida, algumas pistas de solução que sublinham a contribuição eventual do geógrafo-geomorfólogo.
