MIGRAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS E POPULAÇÕES ESTRANGEIRAS NA FRANÇA E NO BRASIL (international migration and foreign populations in France and Brazil)
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Both analyses of foreign populations in France and Brazil show, besides some similarities, deep differences, especially regarding to nationalities and migration mechanisms. While in France these migrants originate mostly from neighbouring countries of Southern Europe and former colonies, in Brazil, the origin of the migrants changed radically in the last decades. Even if these migratory flows still come from the same countries as in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, other migratory components are evident, coming from neighbouring countries or from more distant ones.
