QUESTÃO METROPOLITANA NA PERSPECTIVA DO DESENVOLVIMENTO SUSTENTÁVEL (metropolization and sustainability)

Abstract

No início do século XXI, a metropolização se apresenta como temática capaz de apreender a urbanização em países inseridos na lógica da economia global. Se define, de um lado, como a concentração do poder econômico em número limitado de grandes cidades em escala mundial, de outro lado, designa movimento de concentração de habitantes em amplas bacias de empregos. Esta mudança de escala da cidade não se dá sem produzir custos sociais e ambientais, dado a conduzir pesquisadores em ciências sociais a se interrogarem sobre os fundamentos de uma renovação da ação coletiva face ao desenvolvimento sustentável.

ABSTRACT

In the beginning of 21st century, the metropolization presents itself as a subject-metter, it becomes aware of the ongoing urbanization in the country taking advantage of economic globalization. It is defined in part as the concentration of economic power in a limited number of big worldwide cities, at the same time that means the movement of inhabitant’s concentration in large basins of jobs. This changing of scale in the city does not run without producing social and environmental costs, it makes social science researchers to wonder about the reasons of the renewal of collective action taking as a reference the sustainable development.

RÉSUMÉ

En ce début de xxie siècle, la métropolisation se présente comme une thématique en mesure de rendre compte de l’urbanisation en cours dans les pays tirant profit de la mondialisation économique (a). Elle se définit d’une part comme la concentration du pouvoir économique dans un nombre limité de grandes villes à l’échelle mondiale en même temps qu’elle désigne le mouvement de concentration des habitants dans de vastes bassins d’emplois. Ce changement d’échelle de la ville ne va pas sans produire des coûts sociaux et environnementaux, ce qui conduit les chercheurs en sciences sociales à s’interroger sur lês fondements d’un renouvellement de l’action collective prenant comme référentiel le développement durable.
